"I had only just finished a course of chemotherapy the day before, but was determined to be there. I have terminal cancer so it was hard work but I’m glad I did it. I have my good days and bad days, but I go to CancerCare and this was one of those things which I would have done whether I was having a good or bad day.

CancerCare is an invaluable service and we are very, very lucky to have it in the area. I go there to have massages and my son goes to see a counsellor. He is only nine so it is very difficult for him to grasp what is happening.

I appreciate every women who took part, and every step they made on the StarWalk."

I would just like to say thank you to the organisers, stewards and every single volunteer who helped with this years StarWalk. Staying up all night isn't something everyone would want to do but all those volunteers did brilliantly. What a great night it was! From registering to returning to the Leisure Centre afterwards for that delicious bacon butty everything went really smoothly and to say that it was the first time such an event had been done - well - you'd never have known.

I have just heard about someone who was due to do the star walk but was ill with migraine on Saturday night (she had about £150 sponsorship). So being rather disappointed she decided she would do the walk anyway on Sunday and I am delighted to say she finished it.

What a great night. As I am physically handicapped I did the StarWalk in my electric wheelchair, along with my family and friends. The rain did not dampen our spirits the atmosphere was tremendous. Thanks go to the people who stood outside their houses and the pubs cheering us on. The consideration of Taxi Drivers was second to none, but the highlight of the walk for most of us, was the great blue light from our glow sticks encircling Kendal Green. It was fantastic. Our thanks also to the St John’s Ambulance and the many Marshals who stood along the route in the cold and wet. But the greatest thanks of all go to the organisers and helpers at the Leisure Centre who spent many hours preparing and tiding up afterwards, including all those who prepared the bacon baps, which were most acceptable. Here’s to next year.

Hello, First of all can I congratulate all the people involved in setting up and carrying out the StarWalk around Kendal on 12th May, it was a most enjoyable night with a great atmosphere and well organised.

Everyone I have spoken to today that took part, had an enjoyable evening and despite the rain it didn't dampen their spirits. Our group (Grandma, Mum, Daughter aged 10 and a few friends) may have been one of the last ones over the finishing line but the support from the other walkers, marshals and general public spurred us on to the end. It was worth all the aching the following day to look back on the evening to what we had all achieved.

Thank you once again, everyone worked very hard and I'm definitely looking forward to doing it again next year.

I did the StarWalk as a thank you to Cancer Care but also in memory of my husband Boyd. Boyd was my best friend and also he was my race walking coach. He was always very proud of my success as an International Athlete. We both did a last race together in August 2001, a 24 hour event in Malaysia and decided to call it a day.

On Saturday night I felt so close to Boyd, it was as if he said go on you can still race walk and I did. going up Sedbergh Road I felt him close encouraging me as in the old days when he used to pop up in some dark location to check on me give me encouragement and an odd goody, a sweet, a piece of banana, a piece of cheese. I startled a man a little inebriated by Parkside cemetery when I called out " I know I am walking like a navvy but I'm still going strong!"

Thank you CancerCare, for about the first time since Boyd was diagnosed with cancer I think I felt happy, I was doing what would have pleased him. If he was still alive he would have been out there encouraging everyone for walking that night, for many it was a one off, I would like to think they would keep up the walking. I never for one minute on Saturday evening thought I would ever race walk again.
